– Cymbidium –
Refreshingly Bittersweet Indie-Rock
Much like its namesake, Cymbidiums are known for their difficulty & unwillingness to bloom except under exacting and perfect conditions.
Quite fitting for singer-songwriter Jimmy Hesford’s solo project that never took off until meeting drummer Carl Hiramanek & bassist Gideon Traurig in late 2022.
Cymbidiums music showcases an ability of grabbing at your emotions and tapping your feet with bittersweet melodies, ethereal harmonies, dazzling guitars and rhythmic grooves so sweet, you’ll be left wondering where your heart is.

Our Debut EP
Perennials
Releases on the 1st of November 2024
In a world where emotional connections often feel fleeting, Cymbidium delves into the raw complexities of human relationships through haunting melodies and introspective lyrics. Their Debut EP Perennials explores the tension between longing and indifference, encapsulating the struggles of feeling unheard and the bittersweet urge to escape. With themes of disillusionment, nostalgia, disconnection and coping with emotional detachment, their music resonates deeply, inviting listeners to confront the universal experience of isolation and the pain of unspoken goodbyes. Through evocative storytelling and powerful soundscapes, Cymbidium crafts an atmosphere where vulnerability is embraced, making their journey relatable to anyone grappling with the intricacies of love and loss. Join them as they navigate the delicate balance between urgency and resignation, transforming personal struggle into a collective experience.
Perennials Features 5 tracks:
“Howdy” (a sombre take on a modern day message in a bottle sent out to anyone who could care for someone during a depressive episode).
“I’ll Be There” (an upbeat, sarcastic soliloquy of love lost forever and all the promises that are so easily broken).
“Conquered” (an acoustic redemption through new experiences and the ability to have someone take care of you when you’re at your lowest).
“Ghosting” (another upbeat indie rock jam that critiques modern communication by highlighting the emotional detachment and disconnection caused by abruptly ending conversations without closure).
“Rolodex” (a lost love song about missed chances, disconnection, and how something as seemingly trivial as forgetting a phone number can derail a potential relationship).
With soft, swooning harmonies, energetic bass-lines that pulse and build throughout, a delicate live drum performance that remains responsive to the song’s emotionality and lead guitar melodies that guide the listener gently to the finish, Cymbidium quietly ponders if the cost of being in love is worth it.

What people are saying about Cymbidium
#TheUndergroundStage
“Cymbidium build and build and build over their set, seemingly wielding the lightest of touches but somehow leaving us with glorious head wounds. There’s just bags and bags of charm here, and it veers from new-kid-at-school shy to you-in-MY-house-now levels of fun. What a pleasure. “
Lauren Guerrera (Triple J)
“Dreamy, bittersweet indie rock! It feels like you all share an innate understanding of song structure, harmony and melody which really shines in this track! The guitar tone can only be described as ‘gorgina’ imo!”
Anika Luna (Triple J)
“This upload washes over you in waves – such a soothing number <3”
Bloodyarvo (artist)
Dreamy all the way! The spacey guitar production and lush vocal harmonies transport you to a relaxing Aussie sunny beach day or a cozy stay indoors on a rainy day sipping hot chocolate, depending on any mood you’re in. This song creates a great atmosphere.
